Shala Saral ("we", "us", "our") — operated by Divyanshu Singh Chouhan — respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your information when you use our website shalasaral.com and our iOS / Android apps (collectively, the "Service").

What we collect

1. Information you provide directly

• Account information: if you sign in to the mobile app via Google or email magic-link, we store your name, email address, and profile picture.
• Optional profile details: district, designation, preferred language.
• Comments & bookmarks: articles you save and comments you post.

2. Automatically collected information

• Device information: device model, OS version, app version.
• Usage data: which articles you opened, reading time, bookmark patterns (aggregate analytics only).
• Push tokens: device push token if you enable push notifications.

3. Cookies (web only)

Our website shalasaral.com uses minimal cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details. The mobile app does not use cookies.

How we use your data

• To show you relevant education-related news and circulars
• To send push notifications (only when you opt in)
• To improve the app (aggregate analytics)
• To send service-related emails (magic links, account changes)
• To display advertising (Google AdSense on web, Google AdMob in app — details below)

Advertising & third parties

Google AdSense (website)

We use Google AdSense on shalasaral.com. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Google AdMob (mobile app)

Our mobile app displays advertising via Google AdMob. On iOS we honor App Tracking Transparency — if you decline tracking, you will see non-personalized ads (ads still appear, but not tailored to you).

Other third parties

• Supabase (database / authentication hosting — Singapore region)
• Cloudflare (website CDN, R2 image hosting, DNS)
• Upstash (Redis cache)
• Resend (email magic-link delivery)
• Expo (push notification delivery)

All operate under their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act), you may:

• Request a copy of your data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all data
• Withdraw consent

Data security

• All data is transmitted encrypted over HTTPS
• Passwords are never stored (we use Google OAuth and magic links only)
• Database-level Row Level Security (RLS) policies prevent unauthorized access
• Regular backups via Supabase

Children's privacy

Shala Saral does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The Service is designed for teachers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
